Husband, father, public servant. Michael Cole’s journey is grounded in the ideals of tirelessly listening, advocating, and inspiring progress. His career began in journalism, public policy, executive leadership, and elected office as an Area Commissioner and at the Columbus City Schools board table, which led him to pursue Ohio’s 2nd House District.
His story is one of shared struggle, service, and taking action to have a real impact. His identity is rooted in the values of justice, diversity, and faith in the possibility of infinite possibilities. He wants a good quality of life for all.
Michael Cole has always stood up and shown up for his community. Whether standing up for students at Cleveland State or taking leadership roles that span affordable housing, healthcare, and strong PreK–12 public and higher education, Michael believes that thriving communities start with healthy families, stable workers, and great schools.
“Real leadership is turning hope into opportunity. Whether that’s opening doors to higher learning through the Columbus Promise, putting food on family tables, or building safe, affordable homes that strengthen our neighborhoods,” said Cole.
From small businesses to nonprofits, classrooms, and corporations, Michael has worked side by side with people who power Central Ohio’s local economy by listening first and leading with purpose. Michael believes that progress is built through action, not rhetoric.
Along with his wife of more than 25 years and three children, Michael Cole is all heart, coupled with tenacious grit and the drive to get results that move people forward. He is ready to deliver bold solutions that protect the working class, uplift children, and ensure, most especially, that the least among us has a fair shot at a long and better life.
