Michael Cole’s life journey has been grounded in the ideals of tirelessly listening, advocating, and inspiring progress. His path began in journalism, public policy, executive leadership, and elected office as an Area Commissioner and in the Columbus City Schools boardroom, which led him to pursue Ohio’s 2nd House District.

His story is one of steady service, shared struggle, and real impact. Cole’s identity is principled in the values of justice, diversity, and faith in the possibility of a good quality of life for all. He has always stood up and shown up for Ohioans with leadership that spans affordable housing, healthcare, and strong PreK–12 public and higher education—because thriving communities start with healthy families, stable workers, and great schools.

From small businesses to nonprofits, Michael has worked side by side with people who power Central Ohio’s local economy by listening first and leading with purpose. Michael believes that progress is built through action, not rhetoric.

As he often says, “Real leadership means turning hope into opportunity—whether that’s opening college doors through the Columbus Promise, putting fresh food on family tables, or building safe, affordable homes that strengthen our neighborhoods.”

With heart, grit, and proven results, Michael Cole is ready to deliver bold, practical solutions that protect the middle class, uplift children, and ensure that, most especially, the least among us has a fair shot at a long and better life.
