Michael Cole Releases Statement on Ohio House District 2 Primary Results

“First, I want to congratulate Charity Martin King and thank everyone who took part in the May 5th Primary Election. While my campaign was not victorious, I’m proud of what the Cole for O-H-I-O campaign represented. Cole for O-H-I-O exemplified what it looks like to lead with intention, respect, attentiveness, and to meet the people where they are.

Across House District 2, we walked, talked, and shared our greatest aspirational vision for our seniors, children, families, small businesses, and workers of our community. In your living rooms, porches, and stoops, we talked with each other about what is working and what is hurting your quality of life. More importantly, we talked about solutions. Throughout the process, we found a shared spirit of community, hard work, and forward momentum with mutual encouragement.

I believe we have the potential to realize the possibility of infinite possibilities by learning more, organizing more, and strengthening collaborative action. Additionally, I want to thank everyone who contributed, participated, and spent time in conversation with me.

I am especially grateful to our team who knocked doors, made calls, and stood at the polls in the cold and rain. You gave your finances, time, and energy. Your work mattered, and I am humbly grateful!

To the Ohio Chamber of Commerce PAC, the TEAMSTERS OHIO Democrat Republican Independent Voter Education (D.R.I.V.E.), former City of Whitehall Mayor Kim Maggard, former Ohio House of Representatives Minority Leader Tracy Maxwell Heard, Village of Urbancrest Mayor Joseph L. Barnes, Sr., former Columbus City Councilmember and Public Safety Director Mitchel J. Brown, and Columbus City Councilmember Chris Wyche, my sincerest thanks for your endorsements. I was humbled and honored by your support.

In closing, public service does not begin or end with an election. It is an intensely shared responsibility that continues after votes are counted. At a time when our national landscape is shifting, including decisions that have reshaped the protections of the Voting Rights Act, it is more important than ever that we increase our knowledge, own our democracy, and strategically defend our rights!

Our democracy depends on an informed and active electorate. It requires people to stay engaged, ask questions, and hold leaders accountable. As we stand on the shoulders of those who sacrificed their lives, this work belongs to US ALL! For my part, you can continue to “Count on Cole” in my service to make Ohio smarter, healthier, and wealthier.

Let’s continue the journey together!”
